It was a drama today at the PDP meeting in Nsukka LGA where political thugs loyal to Hon Pat Asadu beat up party members for rejecting his 5th term reelection bid.
AIF Media gathered that Hon Asadu who has been in the House of Representatives since 2003 has been advised by the party hierarchy in his Nsukka/Igbo-Eze south federal Constituency to step aside. Hon Asadu has been in the House of Reps for 20 years.
But he is insisting on returning for the 5th time which has not gone down well with his constituents. Today at the PDP meeting in Nsukka, Hon Asadu came to the venue to formally declare and seek their support to return to the House of Reps in 2023.
But on seeing him, the party members who are no longer interested in his political brainwash, quietly stood up and left the venue. Feeling embarrassed over the situation, his thugs who came with him, started beating the PDP members and destroying chairs and canopies at the venue.
Many of them sustained serious injuries.
A source told AIF Media, “we are angry with Asadu because he has shown too much of greed. We can not fold our arms and allow him contest for 5th tenure.”
Hon Pat Asadu is one of the sit tight politicians in our region. His people gave him opportunity to serve them for the past 20 years and the appreciation they got was beating them up with thugs.
Another source said that using violence and thugs to “harass the party members in Nsukka/Igbo-Eze federal constituency can not return Asadu to the Green Chambers for the 5th time. He should retire, it is time to try another person.”
