There are reports that the Governor of Anambra state Willie Obiano has allegedly offered $4m to an unnamed high ranking INEC official to influence the outcome of the November 6, Anambra Governorship election in APGA’s favor.
According to a report published on the Vanguard Newspaper on Saturday 16th October 2021, the Vanguard stated a Governor from the South East who has an ‘influential and powerful first lady ” is reaching out to Electoral officers in various local government in Anambra state to see how to overturn the election in their favor
“While the embattled governor is said to be trying to reach key national players in INEC to compromise the vote in his favour, the wife of the politician, who is described as ‘an influential and powerful first lady in the Southeast, is reported to have been meeting secretly with many electoral officers, Eos, who are key to the forthcoming election.
“The woman has been holding regular meetings with Electoral Officers, who man the local government offices in the state and has told them her expectations regarding the election,” a top security official privy to the deal, told Saturday Vanguard.”
Those knowledgeable in the matter has named the influential and powerful first lady to be Mrs Ebele Obiano, the wife Governor Willie Obiano stating that no other Governor in the Southeast has a wife who is political or commands such influence as Ebele Obiano.
Sources say the APGA who has since lost in all elections polls have resorted to unconventional methods to return to power using undemocratic process as polls show that they would lose the election.
