Buhari hails peaceful outcome of 2023 elections as fulfillment of legacy of free and fair polls

President Muhammadu Buhari has praised the peaceful outcome of the 2023 general elections as a fulfillment of his pledge to leave a legacy of free and fair polls.

In his message to Muslims on the occasion of Eid-el-fitr, Buhari expressed his pride in creating a level playing field for all contestants regardless of party affiliation, which produced a fair outcome for all.

He stressed that free and fair elections are essential to the credibility of democracy, and that any subversion of the will of the people undermines democracy itself.

The president also congratulated Muslims on completing the Ramadan fasting season and advised them to remember the important lessons of the period, including improving their bond with the underprivileged and poor members of society.
