The President of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Archbishop Daniel Okoh, Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Olukayode Ariwoola, Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate, Peter Obi, and other notable Nigerians have extended their Easter felicitations to Christians in the country.
In his Easter message, Archbishop Okoh advised Nigerians to renew their commitment towards building a better Nigeria. He acknowledged the many challenges that the country has faced in recent years, including insecurity, economic instability, social and political unrest. He urged Nigerians to rise above these challenges and work towards a better future.
LP Presidential Candidate, Peter Obi, wished Christians a happy celebration and prayed that the message and blessings of Christ’s resurrection would remain with them. He urged Nigerians, especially the youth, not to despair in the face of the country’s numerous challenges.
Similarly, the CJN, Olukayode Ariwoola, wished the Christian faithful a joyous Easter and the Muslim Ummah a rewarding Ramadan and happy Eid-el-Fitr.
The Abia State governor-elect, Dr Alex Otti, in his message to Abia residents, titled “Abia is risen with Christ,” likened his victory at the March 18 governorship election to the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead. He thanked the people of Abia for their support and urged them to continue working together for a better future.
In his Easter message, the Catholic Archbishop of Lagos, Most Rev. Alfred Martins, called on all leaders to do away with narrow interests and work towards the path of greatness.
The Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), in a statement by its President, Mr Yakubu Maikyau (SAN), called on the Federal Government to intensify its efforts in protecting the lives and property of its citizens. The NBA expressed concern over the increasing bloodshed and other forms of criminality witnessed daily across the country, describing it as completely unacceptable.
The Director General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Brig. Gen. Yushau Ahmed, urged corps members to sustain the spirit of harmony and tolerance in the discharge of their duties and in furtherance of the Nigerian project.
As Christians across the country celebrate Easter, these notable Nigerians have called for peace, unity and commitment towards building a better Nigeria.
