Ekiti State Governor expresses concern over resurgence of kidnappings and criminal activities

Governor Biodun Oyebanji of Ekiti State has expressed concern over the resurgence of kidnappings and other criminal activities in the state. The governor has called on local governments and council development areas to join hands with the state government and security agencies to fight the menace.

Speaking during a meeting with the Chairmen and leadership of Ekiti West Local Government and Ekameta Local Council Development Area, and Okemesi-Ido Ile LCDA at his Ikogosi-Ekiti country home, Governor Oyebanji stressed that the absence of security in any community would adversely affect the development and growth of the area.

The governor charged the Chairmen to collaborate with the residents and government at all levels to put an end to criminal activities in their area.

According to him, “I heard that kidnappers are resurfacing in some areas and we must sit down as a community and as a government to ensure that we don’t allow it to happen because where there is no security, people will run away from such a place. So, I am going to sit down with the Chairmen of the local governments to find a lasting solution to that place, we must not allow them.”

Governor Oyebanji urged the leaders to love and accommodate one another, noting that cooperation would attract development to the local governments and towns. He reiterated his vision of a state where everyone can live well and live a worthy life, irrespective of their level of education or occupation.

The Chairman of Ekiti West Local Government, Mr Olusesan Okere, who led the delegation, said they visited to celebrate the Easter festivity with the governor and to appreciate him for his efforts in the development of the state since he assumed office.
