Senator Uche Ekwunife (Iyom) on Sunday 20th December, 2020 received Distinguished Excellence Award from the Knights and Ladies of St. John International Commandery 434 and Laux 363 at St. Patrick’s Cathedral Awka, Anambra State.
The Award was in recognition of Senator Ekwunife’s indelible contributions and service to the Knights of St. John International and Humanity at large.
Receiving the Award which was part of the highlights of the activities marking the 2020 Harvest and Thanksgiving, Longevity Celebration by the Nights and Ladies of the commandery, Senator Ekwunife thanked the members of the revered Catholic institution for finding her worthy of the Award. She noted that as Senator representing Anambra Central her passion is to use the instrument of governance to better the lives of her constituents.
Speaking further, the Federal Lawmaker and Frontline Governorship Aspirant for the 2021 Anambra Governorship election thanked the Catholic Knights and the good people of Anambra Central for the support they gave her in the last election which earned her the mandate to represent the people of the Senatorial District at the hallowed chambers of the Senate. She stated that investment in the church is always worthwhile as she is a product of God’s grace and a beneficiary of his abundant blessings.
The Senator while making a personal donation to assist the commandery towards purchasing a Coaster Bus to enhance their activities, stated that she accepted the Award because of the very important role the religious institution plays in the society. She assured them that she would continue to partner with all stakeholders in her bid to attract dividends of democracy to the Senatorial District.
On his part, the Worthy President of the commandery, Sir Ralph Nwike appreciated Senator Ekwunife for being a true representative of the people. He extended warm birthday wishes to her, on behalf of the commandery, and urged her to continue to serve the people diligently.
The Award was presented to Senator Ekwunife by the Catholic Bishop of Ekwulobia Diocese, His Lordship, Most Rev Peter Ebere Okpaleke who extolled Ekwunife for his contributions to the church and humanity.
