A phone dealer, Onyinyechi Esther Anwusi, at Alaba International Market in Lagos State, has reported being extorted by policemen attached to the Okokomaiko division of the Lagos State Police Command.
The policemen forced him to unlock his phone and searched it, after which they falsely accused him of being a fraudster and demanded the sum of N100,000 from him. Although the policemen found no incriminating evidence, they made him pay the sum under duress.
SaharaReporters obtained a copy of the transaction receipt showing the payment of N101,000 to Ndueso Okon Archibong. An anonymous witness also reported similar extortion incidents by the same police division in recent days. The Lagos State Police Command is yet to make a statement.
