Linus Okunwa Wins President General Election of Abagana Welfare Union

Sir Linus Okafor Okunwa has emerged as the new President General (PG) of Abagana Welfare Union after defeating two other contenders in a keenly contested election.

The election, held on Saturday, August 30, 2025, at Abagana Civic Center, drew massive participation from all wards and villagers of Abagana, including those who returned from the diaspora to witness the exercise.

Okunwa secured victory over the incumbent, Engr. Ben Okongwu, who sought re-election to serve for another three-year term.

The new PG-elect is not new to leadership, having previously served as the Caretaker President General of the town between 2020 and 2022.

Abagana, the headquarters of Njikoka Local Government Area in Anambra State, witnessed a peaceful and transparent electoral process supervised by an Electoral Committee led by Prof. Chuke Nwude.
