After years of kingship vacuum, the Igbo-Ukwu community in Anambra State has unanimously enthroned a new traditional ruler, Nze Alex Ejikemeuwa Ezeobidike Azike. The entire community celebrated as the new monarch emerged.
In a ceremony held at the Conference Room of the Aguata Local Government Area Secretariat, the President-General of Igbo Ukwu, Sir Christian Ike, led other notable indigenes to present the new ruler to the TC Chairman of Aguata LGA, Dr Chibueze Ofobuike. The Chairman commended the community for their choice and praised the Anambra State Governor, Prof. Charles Chukwuma Soludo, CFR, for promoting peaceful co-existence across all communities in the state.
The event was attended by the Regent of the Igbo-Ukwu, the wife of the new monarch, and executive members of the town union. History has been made in the community with the emergence of the new traditional ruler.
