Information reaching AIF Media reveals a disturbing development that observers warn must not be allowed to continue in Anambra State.
According to reports, Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo, through the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters, has allegedly directed all traditional rulers (Ndi Igwe) and Presidents-General across the state to boycott the burial ceremony of Prince Nicholas Ukachukwu’s stepmother, holding today in Osumenyi, Nnewi South LGA.
Prince Ukachukwu, the APC governorship candidate, had extended invitations to several traditional rulers and PGs. However, it was gathered that the Commissioner allegedly threatened to sanction or remove from office any traditional ruler or PG who attends the ceremony.

Critics describe this as a dangerous precedent and a direct assault on freedom of association, calling on all lovers of democracy to condemn the move.
It will be recalled that in January 2024, the traditional rulers of Ojoto and Neni were suspended after conferring a chieftaincy title on the late Senator Ifeanyi Ubah, sparking public outcry over perceived government highhandedness.
Observers have now warned that Governor Soludo must not turn Anambra into what they described as “another North Korea,” where rights and freedoms are determined by government control.
With the November 8 governorship election drawing closer, political watchers believe the latest directive suggests that the Soludo administration may be unsettled and losing grip ahead of the polls.
