Today, December, 26, 2020, Anambra Central Senatorial District witnessed another unusual feat as Senator Uche Ekwunife (Iyom) presented her score card in the past 18 months to the constituents of the Senatorial District.
The event which was occasioned to brief Ndi Anambra Central on the efforts of the Senator since she was sworn into the 9th Senate, allowed constituents to interact with the quintessential Federal Lawmaker and contribute ideas towards improving the effectiveness of her representation.
Speaking at the event, Senator Ekwunife who was in company of her beloved husband, Chief Larry Ekwunife (Ochendo) highlighted some of her achievements as Senator. She listed some of the projects and programmes she had embarked on these past months, with a promise that each community in the Senatorial District shall have at least one completed project by 2021.
According to her, these projects and programmes include, Roads Construction, Construction of School Building Blocks, Installation of Transformers, Building of Market Stalls, 3 bedroom bungalows for some less privileged families, Borehole projects, Solar Street Lights Installations, capacity building and entrepreneurial development programmes and others.
Senator Ekwunife while thanking the people of the Senatorial District for giving her their mandate noted that her utmost desire is to entrench good governance and offer her constituents quality representation through impactful and live-changing projects and programmes.
In his remark, the Chairman of the occasion, High Chief Sen Ben Obi (Ojeligbo) lauded Ekwunife for her giant strides in governance. He stated that his consistent support for the Senator is borne out of the fact that she has re-defined constituency representation through her many projects and programmes, which he noted are focused on addressing the yearnings of the people.
On his part, the Former Governor of Anambra State and Vice Presidential Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2019 general elections, H. E Mr Peter Obi (Okwute) stated that what the Senator has done today is to show what quality representation entails. He extolled her for remaining committed to her pact with the people whom he described as the essence of the existence of public office.
Other notable speakers include, the Former Minister of Aviation, Chief Osita Chidoka (Ike Obosi) and the Chairman of Anambra Central Traditional Rulers Council, HRM Igwe Christopher Okpala, the Traditional Ruler of Akwaeze who in their separate remarks testified to the fact that Senator Ekwunife has indeed taken constituency representation to another level.
The well attended event was also graced by the PDP State Vice Chairman Anambra Central, Hon. C. C. Okeke who while giving the closing remark stated that the party made no mistake in sending Ekwunife to the Senate. He thanked her for making the party proud and stated that her achievements in this short period is overwhelming.
Traditional Rulers from the Senatorial District, PDP State Excos, LGA Chairmen of the PDP in the Senatorial District, supporters and friends of the Senator, and other constituents of the Senatorial District formed the guests at the well graced event.
