The successful completion of Nigeria’s 2023 elections is an affirmation that African nations can handle their destiny in a peaceful way, according to outgoing Rwandan High Commissioner to Nigeria, Stanislas Kamanzi.
Kamanzi expressed his satisfaction during a visit to President Muhammadu Buhari in Abuja, saying he would leave Nigeria with a high sense of fulfillment after his eight-year duty tour.
Kamanzi praised Nigeria’s friendly spirit and mutual cooperation, which he said enabled him to make a success of his duty tour. President Buhari congratulated the outgoing diplomat on his successful tour of duty and acknowledged the progress made in the Nigeria-Rwanda relationship over the past eight years.
The president and the High Commissioner also discussed the bilateral accomplishments in the aviation sector, with Rwanda Airline operating eight weekly flights to Lagos and five to Abuja. They also acknowledged the progress made towards a Nigeria-Rwanda Joint Commission, which had been signed and would soon be inaugurated.
President Buhari noted the uncommon coincidence of both himself and the High Commissioner coming in eight years ago and leaving at about the same time. He added that he was pleased with the progress made in normalizing the situation in the Northeast, especially at this time when, according to him, “there is a very active governor” in Borno.
