PDP Senator Blames National Working Committee for Party’s Loss in 2023 Elections

Senator Obinna Ogba of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has blamed the party’s loss in the 2023 general elections on the National Working Committee’s mismanagement of affairs.

Speaking to reporters on Sunday in his hometown of Nkalagu in Ishielu Local Government Area, Senator Ogba alleged that the NWC shot itself in the foot by giving the governorship ticket to the “wrong candidate.”

He cautioned the NWC not to suspend any members, stating that they deserved to be suspended starting from the national chairman. According to Senator Ogba, the national chairman and his conspirators who offered tickets to whoever understood their language lost their polling booth, ward, local government area, and state.

The senator, who lost the party’s governorship ticket after a protracted legal tussle decided by the Supreme Court, said that the PDP is still loved by the people and that there is hope for the party. However, he emphasized the need for the right leaders to manage the party’s affairs, as no party is stronger than the PDP.

He also noted that PDP leaders supported the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate for equity and fairness in the state’s power rotation formula, adding that political parties are only avenues to get to various political destinations. Senator Ogba concluded by saying that he is happy that the northern district produced the next governor, and those he supported won their elections.
