Senator Ekwunife’s Character Of Excellence Endears Her To People

By Chris Umeokafor (Nnanyelugo)

A former American Law Professor and Attorney, Michael Josephson while philosophizing on the essence of character, laid this wonderful template as he stated thus: “Character is the moral strength to do the right thing even when it cost more than you want to pay”.

For umpteen times, Distinguished Senator Uche Ekwunife has consistently embodied a character of an angel who always come to the rescue of her people as at when due. It will take too many pages and numerous paragraphs for me to be able to enumerate the several instances across towns and cities within and outside her constituency where her intervention has helped to restore hope, faith and life back to individuals and communities who had found themselves on the edge of a precipice.

Let me briefly capture the frisson of excitement which Senator Uche Ekwunife has brought to bear on some helpless indigent rural dwellers and communities which is the primary focus of this write up. On Monday 19, 2021 “Madam Projects” commenced projects inspection and commissioning across her Senatorial District. Her first port of call was at Umuriam village Nawfia in Njikoka L.G.A where she commissioned the beautiful edifice she had erected for Mr. and Mrs. Nwokolo Nwune. The couple were ecstatic with unspeakable joy as the keys of the three bedroom bungalow was handed over to them by people-friendly senator. Speaking at the occasion, Iyom reiterated her commitment to eradicating extreme poverty in her constituency through provision of social amenities. She equally appreciated the integrity of those who nominated the project beneficiaries for picking the couple who really deserved the project.

Some dignitaries who graced the occasion include a leader of the People Democratic Party in the local government, Sir Alfred Nworah Etele (Onochie Nawfia na Umunri) who lauded Senator Uche Ekwunife for her giant developmental strides in Anambra Central Senatorial District. He pledged the support of the people of Nawfia to her gubernatorial ambition in the November 6th Anambra governorship election. In his remarks, the PDP Chairman Njikoka L.G.A, Mr. Hyginus Anaeto commended Ekwunife for giving the party a sense of pride in the local government through her numerous projects. He pinpointed the Senator’s antecedents and track record as a testament to her capacity to lead the state.

On Tuesday, April 20, 2021, in a similar visit, Senator Uche Ekwunife and her entourage had a stop over at Umudioka village, Awka, Awka South LGA where she equally handed over keys of another 3-bedroom bungalow to a crippled woman, Mrs Angela Muoneke. The project which was flagged off on the 13th of November, 2020 by the Catholic Bishop of Awka Diocese, His Lordship, Most Rev. Paulinus Ezeokafor was commissioned by the Bishop who was represented by the Diocesan Chancellor, Rev. Fr Francis Chidume. We should recall that the 3-bedroom bungalow was among the numerous projects embarked on by the Federal lawmaker whom many have come to regard as Madam Project for her numerous projects in the Senatorial District and beyond, some of which include, roads, erosion control projects, market stalls, school building blocks, solar boreholes, street lights etc.

The truth is that more projects are already completed and will be commissioned in no distance time. With the level of infrastructural developments and poverty alleviation programmes attracted by the People’s Senator in Anambra state, one can easily be forced to conclude that the reward for good work is more work. As Senator Ekwunife has really distinguished herself with this legislative post, she will certainly perform wonders when given an executive post. Ndi Anambra, Iyom is here to make our state smile again.
