The people of Enugwu-Ukwu in Njikoka Local Government Area of Anambra State on Thursday, December 3, 2020 joyously welcomed the commencement the road construction project facilitated by Senator Uche Ekwunife (Iyom) in their community.
This occurred during the visit of the Anambra Central Zonal Project Monitoring committee to officially flag off construction work and hand over necessary project documents to the community.
The committee which was led by the former commissioner for women affairs Anambra State, Lady Henrietta Agbata was received by the President General of Enugwu-Ukwu Community Development Union, Mr Bonny Ozo Nkwuaku ably represented by Comrade Ben Okonkwo who was joined by some stakeholders in the community as well as PDP Ward Executives.
Addressing the gathering, Comrade Ben Okonkwo described the project as an activity that confirms that Senator Ekwunife means well for the people of the community. He praised her for making the project a reality, and stated that the community will continue to partner with her as she strives to attract more dividends of democracy to the Senatorial District.
On her part, Lady Henrietta Agbata while coveying the Senator’s message of appreciations to the people of Enugwu-Ukwu for their overwhelming support for her in the last election, stated that Senator Ekwunife is passionate about the development of every community under her District. She noted that the road project is only one of many projects that are currently ongoing in various communities courtesy of the Senator. She further restated the monitoring committee’s resolve to ensure that all the other ongoing projects in the constituency are executed under the strict compliance of the contractual agreements.
In their separate remarks, the Njikoka Project Manager and a respected Stakeholder in the community, Comrade ABC Ubani and the Chairman Umuoji Village Enugu-Ukwu, Mr Alexander Olime stated that the commencement of the project is a manifestation of Senator Ekwunife’s commitment to the developmental needs of her constituents, particularly the people of Enugwu-Ukwu community. Referring to the Federal Lawmaker and Governorship hopeful as Madam Project, the duo lauded the Senator for not reneging on her promises to the people of the community. They further reaffirmed their support for her in all her political ambitions.
Also present at the event include, the PDP Chairman Enugwu-Ukwu Ward 1, Ichie Obinwanne Okoye, PDP Chairman Enugwu-Ukwu Ward 3, Nwankwo Simon, the Zonal Project Manager Anambra Central Liaison Office, Mrs Ify Chinwuko, Women Coordinator SUECO Enugu-Ukwu Ward 2 , Asikason Nkechinyere, Youth leader Umuorji village Enugu-Ukwu, George Onyeke Enuoyibo and others.
