Anambra Governor’s wife, Mrs Nonye Soludo has stated that her export support promise to female farmers in Anambra State is still effective.
The governor’s wife had recently, during her interactions with different women groups in Anambra State, pledged to assist any female farmer based in the state, whose farm produce pass pure organic assessments, with export support.
The move, according to her, is not just to push women to go into agriculture, but to, most importantly encourage them to adopt the basics of organic farming.
The aim is to also move their proceeds beyond local markets, and give them international appreciation.
Speaking in Awka, Mrs Soludo said that her promise is still effective, and would be on for as long as it benefits a good number of Anambra women who are into serious commercial agriculture.
The governor’s wife noted that as a full-time farmer herself, she is at home with the huge gains therein, and appealed to women to engage in at least subsistence agriculture as a way to ensure food sufficiency in their homes.
She further asked them to move away from fertilizer-based farming, reminding them of the health importance of going full organic, both in their farming practices and in choosing what they eat.
Mrs Soludo also urged them to capitalize on the current coconut and palm tree projects spearheaded by her husband’s administration.
