Northern Think Tank Leader Urges APC to Adopt Orji Kalu as Consensus Candidate for Senate President

Dr. Bashir Lamido, the leader of a Northern Think Tank, Arewa Summit International, has urged the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and President-elect, Asiwaju Ahmed Bola Tinubu, to adopt Senator Orji Uzor Kalu as the consensus candidate for the position of Senate President. Lamido made this appeal in a statement signed by him on Friday.

Lamido believes that Nigeria needs a trailblazer like Kalu to emerge as the 10th Senate President, to help stabilize the country. He also warned the APC not to field a Northern Muslim as the 10th Senate President for peace and national stability.

Lamido maintained that other aspirants for the position of Senate President, especially from the Southeast geopolitical zone, should step down and support Kalu’s candidacy to emerge unopposed.

He added that the combination of Kalu as Senate President, Kashim Shettima as Senate Vice President, and Ahmed Bola Tinubu as President would help save the country from drifting into a divided state.

Lamido emphasized that Kalu is competent, capable, and has the capacity to mobilize, coordinate, and provide the much-needed leadership that delivers results for effective legislative governance and oversight for the country. He also mentioned that Kalu understands the needs and aspirations of all regions of the country and is cosmopolitan in outlook.

According to Lamido, it is crucial for Senators-elect across party lines to support, vote, and elect Senator Orji Uzor Kalu as the next Senate President.
