Police Service Commission Approves 8 Command CP Appointments, Commends Acting IGP for Gender Sensitivity

In a recent development, the Police Service Commission has given its approval for the appointment and deployment of eight Commissioners of Police to various State Commands across the country. The Commission has also praised the acting Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, for his adherence to the latest Policy on gender sensitivity in his recommendations.

While acknowledging the positive steps taken by the acting IGP, the Commission has urged him to pay attention to the 15 percent geo-political spread, which has not been met in the North East and South East zones. This directive was made during the Commission’s last Plenary Meeting, and it expects the Inspector General to prioritize these regions in his future proposals.

The newly appointed State Commissioners of Police are as follows:

  1. Godwin Aghaulor – CP Bornu State Command,
  2. Adelesi E. Oluwarotimi – CP Kwara State Command,
  3. Adebola Ayinde Hamzat – CP Oyo State Command,
  4. Augustina Ogbodo – CP Ebonyi State Command,
  5. Samuel Titus Musa – CP Kebbi State Command,
  6. Aderemi Olufemi Adeoye – CP Anambra State Command,
  7. Stephen Olarewaju – CP Imo State Command,
  8. Alamatu Abiodun Mustapha – CP Ogun State Command.

The Chairman of the Commission, Dr. Solomon Arase, a retired Inspector General of Police, expressed his satisfaction with the recommendations made by the acting IGP, deeming them fair on average. He also commended the inclusion of women in the appointments. Dr. Arase further advised the acting IGP to consider the underrepresented geo-political zones in future proposals for the Commission’s ratification.
