Ngige is an elder statesman and a respected one. He should de-escalate the crisis in Alor and not to fuel it.
Igwe Mac-Anthony Elibe Okonkwo was suspended for a year by the state govt. His attempt to armtwist the governor to convert the suspension to outright sack is causing unnecessary tendon in the community.
The fact remains that HRH Elibe Okonkwo remains the Igwe of Alor. The suspension of the 12 Igwes didn’t meet the provisions of the Anambra state Traditional Rulers Law of 2007.
The Law in section 10 subsection 1 states that no Igwe can be suspended or certificate of recognition withdrawn except 2/3 majority of the members of the state assembly approves it.
This section was not met in suspending them. And the minister of Labour should have been aware of this constitutional breach and understand that Igwe Elibe remains.
Ngige should seek for peace in Alor, except he wants to become Igwe of Alor, then he should resign his ministerial position.
