APC yet to zone National Assembly leadership offices, says Senate spokesperson

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has not yet decided on the zoning of presiding officers for the 10th National Assembly, according to Senate spokesman Ajibola Basiru.

He denied reports that leadership positions had been zoned and said the arrangement would be unveiled after Ramadan.

Basiru said all senators-elect were qualified to vie for positions, but the party would consider factors including ranking, competence, capacity, religion and zonal contributions to Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s presidential election victory.

He also addressed arguments for religious diversity in leadership positions. “The APC won the majority of legislative seats during the elections with over 55 Senate seats out of 109 and over 160 out of 360 House of Representatives seats,” Basiru said.
