Nigeria at 62: Chart a new course to rescue the nation from economic & political collapse – Nigeria Pillar of Sports tasks leaders, youths

Even as Nigeria clocks 62 years of Independence, the Nigeria Pillar of Sports, Chief Donatus Agu Ejidike, J.P has tasked leaders and youths to chart a new course to rescue the nation from economic and political collapse which threaten the corporate existence of Nigeria.

Chief Ejidike in a statement to mark the independence celebration said the country has been marking time without almost anything to celebrate when compared with other nations of the world who got independence within the frame of the period Nigeria got freedom.

The sport philanthropist lamented that our leaders have deviated from the path created by the founding fathers who fought for the country’s independence in 1960.

“Ever since we got independence, it has been a gory story and experience; killings, political riots, ethnic and tribal rivalries, civil war, austerity, military coups, economic retrogression and; now, insurgency and banditry and agitations for tribal nations. It is high time we retrace our steps and salvage our nation from chaos and backwardness”.

According to Nigeria Pillar of Sports: “Our leaders should have the courage to address issues of agitations and uphold justice in all ramification as well as equity. The youths should realise that they need to be involved in the political affairs of this country because unemployment, strikes in our educational institution and decay in our infrastructures affect the future of the youths”.

He also tasked religious leaders to preach peace and not message of disintegration even as they pray and make supplications for our nation.

The sports administrator postulated that the government at all levels should invest in sports promotion and development; wherein, large numbers of the youths could develop their talents.

“However, in all these challenges let us continue to speak good of our dear country, Nigeria and pray for divine intervention of God”.
