The effort made by the Joint admission and matriculation board (JAMB ) was commendable in meeting up with universities, polytechnics and colleges of education in the country to comply in extending the admission processes until WAEC results is out or released. The decision was made with the aim of giving each candidate an equivalent right to access the forthcoming admission processes and screening exercises conduct by the institutions without leaving any aspirant behind for the sake SSCE results.
To make the the decisions made by JAMB effective, the Federal Ministry of Education should also make a move forward in executing the decision made by JAMB, through meeting up with the examination body to discuss on how the board can decrease the duration they use in marking their exams from two months to one month or less than that.
If WAEC could decrease the period of marking their exams, it would help the students to easily meet up with extended admissions processes. I.e if the exams should be written within August and September as it was scheduled. The results should be release within October or early November. This will give the candidates an opportunity in meeting up with the schools admission processes and screening exercises. And it will also provide less delay in the commencement of admissions for new academic session.
