Representation Is About Impacting Positively On The Lives Of The People, Ekwunife Restates

As Christians all over the world continue to bask on the euphoria of the commemoration of the resurrection of our Lord, Jesus Christ – a period in Christendom when believers are expected to rekindle their love for humanity, through charitable deeds and show of generosity, the Senator representing Anambra Central Senatorial District, Uche Ekwunife on Friday, April 9, 2021, again empowered some of her constituents for a record 11th time since she assumed office in June 2019.

The empowerment programme which held at the ever busy Senator Uche Ekwunife Centre Awka was another opportunity for Senator Ekwunife to once again display, in practice, the essence of public service. The SUE centre has today become a prominent empowerment ground where constituents and indeed Anambrarians visit and depart with smiles on their faces as they experience and receive dividends of democracy.

Speaking to journalists shortly after she oversaw the distribution of gas cookers and cash grants to the beneficiaries which numbered upto 400, Ekwunife noted that representation is about impacting positively on the lives of the people. She said that the need to address the yearnings of the people is her major reason for seeking public office, and assured that she will continue to work towards ameriorating the challenges facing the people.

Ekwunife further stated that youth unemployment remains one of the greatest challenges of the society. She said that facilitation of employment and skills acquisition training for women and youths remain top on her priority. She urged citizens in positions of influence or authority to commit energy, time and resources towards addressing the menace. She equally highlighted her efforts in this regard.

In her words, “My bill seeking to amend the Nigerian Investment Promotion Act to make provision for adequate protection of micro, small and medium enterprises, and shield them from unfair competition is progressing in the Senate. Hopefully when passed, the bill will provide the necessary legislative framework that will improve the growth of small and medium scale enterprises.”

Ekwunife further noted that she has assisted many of her constituents in accessing the federal government’s social intervention funds which many have benefitted from. Some of the beneficiaries who were present acknowledged receipts of funds ranging from N700,000 to N5 million. She encouraged those who applied but are yet to be credited to be patient, and stated that her laision office is open on a daily basis to assist interested constituents.

Senator Ekwunife hinted that she will do more to support delivery of quality education. She described education as the surest way to end ignorance and eradicate poverty, and said that many schools have received facelifts through the projects she attracted. According to the performing Federal Lawmaker, quality education will steer the youths from social vices and empower them to be logical thinkers and solution providers in the society.

As shouts of “Ome Nke Ahuru Anya” permeated the empowerment ground, blended with chants of “Uche Ekwunife Ga Achi Anambra”, the beneficiaries who were overwhelmed with joy, expressed gratitude to the Senator for continuing to be a light in the lives of Ndi Anambra.

Speaking to the press, one of the beneficiaries, Mrs Elizabeth Nwakeze stated that Ekwunife has taken representation to a level unseen in modern day politics. She said that Ekwunife has made the women folk and indeed all Anambrarians proud, and deserves to be the next governor of the state.

The event was graced by some prominent members of Senator Ekwunife campaign team, including the Chairman of her Campaign Organization, Ichie Sir Edwin Ubboh, the Director General, Chief A. A Anagu, former Accountant General of Anambra State, Mrs Helen Nwaeri, former commissioner for commerce and industry, Hon Barr. Ken Arinze, former Managing Director Anambra State Physical Planning Board, Chief Victor Okpoko, former Deputy Chairman Anaocha LGA, Chief Chuka Okpoko, Legislative Assistant to the Senator, Ify Chinwuko, Mr Chidi Obiora amongst others.
