Unknown Gunmen Allegedly Kill 4 Security Operatives In Enugu While Enforcing Sit-At-Home Order

No fewer than four soldiers have been shot dead in the Iyiachi community in Oji River Local Government Area of Enugu State on Monday by gunmen who were reportedly enforcing the sit-at-home order in the South-East states.

Daily News Reporters had on Sunday reported that some gunmen attacked the Inyi Police Division in Oji-River Local Government Area of Enugu State, killing two people and setting the station ablaze.

One of the two people killed was said to be a police officer on duty when the hoodlums attacked the station.

A video of the incident seen by Daily News Reporters on Sunday afternoon shows a building being used as a police station on fire and the bodies of two young men lying by the perimeter fence of the station.

Voices in the background of the video identified one of the bodies as that of a policeman while it is not clear whether the second person was a policeman or not. Some voices identified the two victims as policemen, but another person said he could only identify one of them as a policeman attached to the station.

However, in another viral video, the bodies of the slain soldiers were displayed.

According to the video, the incident occurred in Iyiachi Area during the sit-at-home order being observed by residents of the South-East states on Monday.

The details of the attack were still sketchy by press time as the police and army are yet to confirm the incident.

The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) had recently distanced itself from the sit-at-home directive aimed at grounding activities in Southeast Nigeria on Tuesday, October 4.

The group’s Media and Publicity Secretary, Emma Powerful, in a statement insisted that IPOB leadership did not authorize any sit-at-home order in the Southeast on Tuesday, October 4.
